Nigeria Air Force(NAF), has on Sunday evening, unveiled identity of classmate who knocked down late flying officer Tolulope Arotile.

The deceased until her death was the first Nigeria female flying officer who served the country with all her power and might but unfortunately, she died on July 14, at 24 years, after been knocked down with a vehicle by a secondary school classmate, on Mr. Nehemiah Adejoh who reversed to greet her at NAF based in Kaduna.

According to NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ibikunle Daramola, who made this known at a just ended briefing in Abuja, it is a civil case and it will be handled over to the police.

“Being a civil case, the matter will be handed over to the Nigeria Police with a view to further investigating and charging the suspects to court in accordance with extant laws,” he added.

1 Million Register For Tinubu 2023- Pressure Mounts On APC Leader

A political pressure group calling on the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to contest the 2023 presidential election has hit one million followers, Daily Trust can report.

This is as support continues to swell for the APC Leader to emerge as the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Despite the mounting pressure on him, our correspondent can report that the former Lagos governor has not made up his mind on the perceived 2023 ambition, insisting the time was still not right.

Tinubu had also declared recently that he has not made a decision on the 2023 ambition, saying he is preoccupied with offering the administration of Buhari credible advice and direction to deepen his successes in the administration’s thematic areas.

But his followers are leaving no stone unturned to actualise his ambition.

One of the strong support groups of Asiwaju is the Tinubu 2023, Not Negotiable (TNN) which celebrated its one-year anniversary recently admitting more members into its fold and inaugurating executives in the Diaspora. According to the founder of the group, Hon. Kunle Okunola, so far executives of TNN have been inaugurated in 13 countries including France, United Kingdom and some African countries all working to make the 2023 project of Asiwaju a reality.

Speaking with Daily Trust at the weekend, Okunola, a former organising secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos before defecting to the ruling APC, insisted that no amount of campaign of calumny could stop the emergence of Asiwaju as the next president of the country.

He said Tinubu did not only have the capacity and skills to lead the country but appealed more to a non-partisan citizenry as the only 2023 candidate that could “rediscover” the country and take it to the Promised land.

Okunola noted that some politicians had launched campaigns of calumny against Asiwaju not because they have the interest of the country at heart but they were “being haunted by the reality” of Asiwaju becoming the next president.

He said they were determined to destroy him before 2023 but that their plot and “campaign of calumny” could not stop the APC leader.

According to him, it is only the president and Asiwaju that are currently holding the foundation of the APC with Buhari in the North and Tinubu in the South. Another APC chieftain and former member, Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Dipo Olounrinu said the APC leader has the pedigree of achievements to rule the country and urged Nigerians to give him the chance when he eventually shows interest.

He said Tinubu has not only made people but contributed immensely to the growth of the party and stood firmly by the party after working for its victory in the 2015 and the 2019 elections.

Ogun State Begins Work On Ojodu Abiodun, Akute Road

The Ogun State Government has assured residents of Ojodu Abiodun, Akute in Ifo Local Government Area of the State that the State Government would immediately commence work on the 4.65-kilometre road at the end of the current raining season, with a promise to deliver a brand new road.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya who gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen shortly after inspecting palliative work on the road, said that the palliative work currently going on in the area was just a temporary measure to reduce the hardship of road users, adding that the road is part of the economic linkage the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led Administration in the State was looking to revitalise.

Aside from the 4.65-kilometre Ojodu Abiodun/Akute road, Akinsanya also disclosed that the road coming from Sango to Akute, where the bridge can be seen would also be done, calling on the people of the State to be patient with the State Government in its resolve to make roads across the State motorable.

He emphasised that palliative works would be done on Ojodu Abiodun-Denro Ishashi-Ajuwon-Akute Alagbole-Yakoyo, and Alagbado-Oke Aro-Lambe-Matogun Roads and their environs.

"This road is a vital road. It is a road linking us with Lagos State. It is part of the economic linkage this Administration is trying to revitalise in this area. The new road is coming very soon. The design is ready. To make it motorable when it rains is the reason for the palliative work we are doing here today.

There has been a lot of complaints on the road, but the Governor has directed us to make it motorable, even in the interim.

"There will be a brand new road linking this place to Lagos. It is a 4.65-kilometre road. At the same time, the road coming from Sango to Akute here where you see the bridge - that also will be done," he said.

A resident and pastor in charge of First Baptist Church, Akute, Reverend Ayo Ojeleye, while commending the State Government for the palliative work on the road, called on the Government to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the people in the area.

Saudi Arabia's 84-year-old ruler King Salman was admitted to hospital in Riyadh Monday for gall bladder inflammation, the royal court said, prompting the postponement of the Iraqi prime minister's high-profile visit.

It is rare for Saudi Arabia to report on the health of the ageing monarch, who has ruled the top oil exporter and the Arab world's biggest economy since 2015.

The king was "admitted today to King Faisal specialist hospital in Riyadh for some medical tests due to cholecystitis," inflammation of the gall bladder, the royal court said in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The announcement made around 4:30 am (0130 GMT) did not disclose any further details.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi's scheduled visit to Saudi Arabia, which was due to start on Monday, has been postponed after the king's hospitalisation, according to the Saudi foreign minister.

"In recognition of the extremely important visit and a desire to make it a success, our wise leadership in coordination with our brothers in Iraq have decided to postpone the visit" until the king leaves hospital, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan wrote on Twitter.

Hours before Kadhemi was to set off on his first trip abroad as premier, his office said they heard King Salman was suffering from "a sudden health issue".

"It was decided to postpone the visit to the earliest possible date agreed upon by the two sides," his office said in a statement.

Iraq's oil, finance, electricity and planning ministers arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to begin meetings ahead of Kadhemi's visit, Iraqi officials told AFP.


The delegation is set to return to Baghdad after the meetings wrap up on Monday afternoon.

Under the king's rule, Saudi Arabia launched ambitious economic reforms for a post-oil era and gave more rights to women, but also adopted a more assertive foreign policy and entered a war in neighbouring Yemen.

King Salman took the throne after the death of his half-brother Abdullah, who was around 90 years old.


In 2017, Saudi Arabia dismissed reports and mounting speculation that the king was planning to abdicate in favour of his young son, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who is widely seen as the de facto ruler.

"There is no possibility whatsoever that the king will abdicate," an unnamed Saudi official told Bloomberg News, adding that Saudi kings usually remain in power even when poor health prevents them from carrying out their responsibilities.

Prince Mohammed's meteoric rise to power has coincided with a sweeping crackdown on critics and dissenters, as well as royal family members.


Saudi Arabia has been engulfed by a series of controversies since he was named crown prince and heir to the throne in June 2017.

That includes the brutal October 2018 murder of royal insider-turned-critic Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi agents at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul

Tolulope Arotile: Nehemiah Adejoh Drove The Vehicle That Killled NAF Officer

The Nigerian Air Force on Sunday revealed the identity of the killer of the late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ibikunle Daramola, made this known at a just ended briefing in Abuja.

Daramola gave the name of Arotile’s ex-classmate who drove the vehicle that hit Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot as “Mr Nehemiah Adejoh”.

The NAF spokesperson also said the matter would be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force being a civil case.

He said the details of the 24-year-old pilot have been communicated to her family who is still mourning their daughter and sister.

Giving a report of a preliminary investigation carried out, the NAF spokesperson said the late Arotile met three of her former schoolmates at the Air Force Secondary School now Air Force Comprehensive School) Kaduna on the day of the unfortunate incident.

He said, “Mr Nehemiah Adejoh, Mr Igbekele Folorunsho and Mr Festus Gbayegun, drove past her in a Kia Sorento SUV, with Registration Number AZ 478 MKA. It is noteworthy that Messrs Adejoh, Folorunsho and Gbayegun are all civilians who live outside NAF Base Kaduna, but were on their way to visit one Mrs Chioma Ugwu, wife of Squadron Leader Chukwuemeka Ugwu, who lives at Ekagbo Quarters on the Base.

“Upon recognising their schoolmate, Arotile, after passing her, Mr Adejoh, who was driving, reversed the vehicle, ostensibly in an attempt to quickly meet up with the Deceased, who was walking in the opposite direction. In the process, the vehicle struck Flying Officer Arotile from the rear, knocking her down with significant force and causing her to hit her head on the pavement. The vehicle then ran over parts of her body as it veered off the road beyond the kerb and onto the pavement, causing her further injuries.”

Daramola said Arotile was rushed to NAF hospital in the base but was confirmed dead at 04:45pm.

He explained that the three ex-classmates were immediately detained and subjected to alcohol test but no such substance was found in their systems.

It was however discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Mr Nehemiah Adejo, did not have a valid driver’s license.

“Being a civil case, the matter will be handed over to the Nigeria Police with a view to further investigating and charging the suspects to court in accordance with extant laws,” he added.
