Nigerian Business Woman Buys Portuguese Club
A Nigerian business entrepreneur, Nneka Ede, has purchased Portuguese third division club Lusitano Ginasio Clube for an undisclosed fee.
Ede is now the first African woman to own an European football club.
According to a statement on Thursday, Ede has secured 100 percent ownership of Lusitano Ginasio Clube founded in 1911.
The 108-years-old club last played in the Portuguese top-flight division in the 1950’s.
The statement from the club read: “After months of negotiations with different entities, an agreement has been reached with Mrs Nneka Ede, a sports enthusiast and entrepreneur from Nigeria, a country filled with people as passionate and fiery about football as us and which incidentally share the same green and white in their flags, towards the transfer of the ownership of the SAD to the latter that will help us in our mission to take Lusitano to the next level.”
Speaking after acquiring the club Ede said: “I am excited about this opportunity and I hope that this new chapter will deepen the already great sporting relation between Nigeria and Portugal,” she said.
“And to continue with the rich history of Lusitano club and provide a pathway for young talent to develop and shine through.”
Lusitano Ginasio Clube were crowned Portuguese second division champion in the 1951-1952 league season.
The club gained promotion into the top flight and took part in the 1952–53 league season finishing in 7th position in their first ever campaign.
They competed for 14 consecutive seasons in the top flight, its major period of success in the 1950s and 1960s, earning an honorable 5th place in 1956/57, and reaching the semi-finals of the Portugal Cup twice.
After relegation in 1966 the club went through a period of decline, never gaining promotion to the Portuguese top flight even descending to regional championships.

Preparation For Eid-ul-adha: How Much Is Ram In Your Area?

Assalam Alaekum WaramotuLah Wabarakatuh,
AlhamduLilah, we are few days to Eid-ul-Adha, one of the two major Islamic festival. Those who plans to make Udhiya (Qurbani) this year would have been keeping themselves updated about the price of these animals permissible to be slaughtered. Some of these animals include a goat, sheep, cow, bull, buffalo or camel, male or female if they meet the condition.
“There is nothing dearer to Allâh during the days of Qurbâni than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Qiyamah with its horns, hair and hooves (to be weighed in reward). The sacrifice is accepted by Allâh before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore, sacrifice with an open and happy heart.” (Hadith-Ibn Majah).
Whoever has the capacity to sacrifice and does not do so, should not come to the place where the Eid prayer is offered.” (Hadith-Ibn Majah).
In order to encourage our brethren who, thinks it is very expensive to make Udiyah, can you please tell us the price of these animals at your location?
May Allah make it easy for us

Gani Adams- Tolulope Arotile's Death Looks Suspicious To Me
Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, has urged the Federal Government to properly investigate the death of Nigeria’s first female combat Helicopter Pilot, Tolulope Arotile, saying the death was suspicious.
Adams, in a statement on Thursday, by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, described the late Arotile’s death as a personal loss, especially, to the Yorubas.
While condoling with the family of the deceased, Adams also urged the International Community, the United Nation,European Union, United States and Britain to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the young and promising girl.
“Nigeria has lost one of its best brains in the military in such a suspicious circumstances. The late Tolulope Arotile’s short span in life was remarkable with a track record of being the first female combat helicopter pilot. The best we can do as a nation is to get to the root of the circumstances culminating in her death”
“As far as I am concerned, reports of her death still remained suspicious to me because her death has raised many questions”
“How would such a promising, young girl be killed by a reversing car within the premises of the barrack? Who drove the car? What was his or her name? Where was the suspected killer at the moment? And what is the present situation? We will like to know, and that is why I am charging the International Community to investigate and look into the circumstances surrounding her death”
Adams, however, said the death of such a promising, young girl has exposed the nation as a country that never values the lives of its citizens, especially, the best and exceptional citizens”
“I take an exception to believe the story surrounding her gruesome murder. Her achievements speak volumes and many in the system may see her rising profile as a threat to the establishment, mostly with her passion towards ending the threats of the dreaded Boko Haram and bandits terrorising the North-west and the rest of the country”.
” I feel the pain of a father whose daughter’s shining light went dim unexpectedly. The sadness of losing a promising girl like Totulope was eternal to her family, because of her talents and dedication to duty, so it should not go the usual way, where our best brains died without any investigation being carried out”
“Tolu’s father said he spoke with his daughter, by 1pm and by 5pm, a few hours later she was reportedly killed by a reversing car and was in the mortuary. That story needs to be investigated because her case is one out of the many deaths of great Nigerians that made positive impacts toward making Nigeria great, and that is one of the reasons people of excellent and exceptional brains find it difficult to serve the country, and they are all over the world doing great”
” I have traveled across the world, and I see many Nigerians doing wonderfully well in their respective disciplines, but they always feel reluctant to come back home, because of the way we treat our best brains, I think this is too bad for the development of our nation. More so, I share in the grief of the family as I pray God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss”. He said.

Tragedy As 26 ECWA Members Going For Evangelism Die In River Benue
*TRAGEDY: No Fewer Than 26 ECWA Members Going For Evengelism Die In River Benue*
________________________________________________
A boat carrying 28 youths of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Adeke, Makurdi capsized on River Benue, killing no fewer than 26 of them, including a set of triplets.
Investigation revealed that the youths were going on an evangelism mission to a neighbouring community when tragedy struck.
The Secretary of the English Section of the ECWA church, Miss Favour Simeon, said she was with the 26 youths who died in the accident at Sunday service earlier in the day.
Speaking amid tears to reporters, Simeon recalled that shortly after the Sunday service, the youths had come together and decided to embark on evangelism in another community across the River Benue.
She said among those who drowned in the river when the boat capsized were a set of triplets by name Peter, Paul and Paulina, who are children of a mobile policeman identified simply as Inspector Bulus. Inspector Bulus was said to be away on Special duty at the time the incident occurred.
Simeon, an acquaintance of the 16-year-old triplets who were supposed to celebrate their 17th birthday in September, “their mother actually warned them against going to River Benue because the volume of its water had increased, but one of them (Paulina) accused her of trying to weaken her faith.
“It was on that basis that their mother allowed them to travelled for evangelism,” Simeon said.
She described the incident as unfortunate, saying that the deceased triplets were devout Christians who had strong faith in God and loved to worship Him.
Asked how she received the news of the death of his church members, she said: “My elder brother called me on the phone and asked if I went to evening service and I said no. He requested for Shadrach, one of the victims’ number.
“I was trying to call my brother again when a neighbour ran to me and said a canoe had capsized with our church members on board and all of them had died.
“I ran straight to the house of the triplets at Mobile Barracks and saw people gathered and the mother was crying.
“I ran to the bank of River Benue where the incident occurred and saw a body recovered on the bank of the river. I wept profusely.”
She blamed the police for what she described as a poor rescue operation, saying it took the intervention of the Benue State Commissioner of Police before the Marine police move to the scene for a search-and-rescue operation.
“By then, it was too late as most of them had drowned,” she said.
Grief seized the atmosphere at Squadron MOPOL 13 Mobile Barracks. Some residents of the barracks were seen in front of their houses weeping as relations and friends trooped in to console them.
The grief was, however, more pronounced in the home of Inspector Bulus because apart from his triplets, two other members of his household, Miss Sadutu Kabina and her sister Precious, were said to have died in the boat mishap.
